Essex Sounds – soundscapes of Colchester past and present is run by the Essex Record Office, with Stuart Bowditch, a sound recordist from southend. It is to build and develop a constantly evolving sound map of Essex, including sounds from the environment and aural histories.
I recently discovered this project and thought I would contribute some recordings made in Colchester, including recent ones. Some of the sound files have supporting images taken by Colchester based photographer, Joe-Elliot Purtell.
Here is a link to their site including the sound map, where you can also contribute your own recordings!

Thank you for this blog entry, which I’ve only just seen, and especially thank you for your contributions to Essex Sounds!
